The Greater Inheritance

I have personally read this book and personally know these people.  You won’t be disappointed in their story!  A true story of courage and faith, leaving the Amish life behind to find Truth, peace, and real freedom in Christ in spite of being excommunicated and severely shunned.    You can also find more information HERE

The Case of the Christmas Suitcase–Curse or Blessing

Last Thursday was the day for our three Brazilian students and friends who are attending Ambassador Baptist College to fly home for Christmas.  They so graciously consented to taking another loaded suitcase, full of Christmas presents and other items, to our son and daughter-in-law who are missionaries in Brazil .  It was nearly 5 pm and I had been thinking about them throughout the day and praying for a safe flight and for the extra suitcase to get there without any problems going through customs.  A text came through on my phone which said, PRAY – they will not let us check the suitcase – embargo in Brasilia.  Oh me.  I called and texted everyone I could and asked them to pray.  We heard from them again – no, they could not take the suitcase.  Someone needed to pick it up right away.  Well, we live over an hour away from the airport and they were supposed to board their plane in an hour!  My husband jumped in the car and took off, but t...

The Valley of the Shadow of Death

A friend that had cancer just passed away a few days ago.  She was young, in her 30’s.  She leaves behind a husband and 7 children.  It all seems so tragic.  Yet, death is something we all need to think about for it will come for all of us one day.  Below is an excerpt of her final testimony that she wrote the month before she died.  I hope you will take time to go to her site and read all of her testimony .  “You will all face what I am facing now. I want for everyone of you to be blessed with the peace and confidence that Christ has given me. I wish that everyone could see during their whole lives what I am seeing so clearly now. God loves us all so completely. His plan has never been to destroy us, but to redeem us and all of His creation perfectly. There is another someone who hates us completely because we are the creation of his Enemy, and he never stops trying to deceive and destroy us as long as we are on this earth. Christ has offered the so...

By the Grace of God

Below is another true story, the testimony of a friend of mine and how God’s grace brought her through some difficult circumstances..  You won’t want to miss this one. When asked to share  my testimony I am always reminded of the verse “But sanctify the Lord god in your hearts and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear”  1Peter 3:15  This is my testimony of my new life in Christ and also for LIFE.  I did not grow up in a Christian home.  My parents both worked and as I grew they did not interact with me much.  I grew up living a very selfish lifestyle.  I was pretty much left to myself. I was a good example of “The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame” Proverbs 29:15  I craved attention and guidance I needed from my mother and father.  I went looking for it in all the wrong places.  I had an emptine...

Acts of Kindness–Do they transform lives?

A friend of mine recently shared some blessings that he experienced.  Here is what he says: On two different occasions this Memorial Day weekend, God used stranger to bless my family and I in ways that can only be described as uncommon. On the way home from church Sunday, my wife suggested that we stop by and get a menu from a restaurant we had never eaten at before.  As we pulled into the restaurant parking lot, we decided to go ahead and get something to eat.  After placing our order, the children and I went for a walk around the parking lot while we waited. On the way back to pick up our order, a lady I had never seen before walked up to me and asked if I was a minister.  I told her no, but I was the Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center .  She said, “The Lord told me to help you pay for your supper”  then she handed me seventeen dollars.  Emily and I were amazed! Then Monday, after a long hot afternoon of work, I had one project left on my ...

Sustained by a Right Spirit

Below is a devotional also written by my good friend Mrs. B. Upton. This was written a few years ago when she was the guest speaker at one of our ladies meetings. This devotional was such a blessing to me that I asked her if she cared if I reprinted it. Mrs. B. is one of the most godly ladies I know. She is a joy to be near and you can always see Christ in her countenance. She has been through numerous trials, some very heartbreaking, yet she fully trusts the Lord through it all. What a godly example. I know this devotional will be a blessing to you too! If you have a hard time reading any of this you can click on the individual pages and them will come up larger. You can find one of her CD’s here . Listen to some samples and buy one. She sings from the depths of her soul!

Does God give Gifts through trials? - Another True Story

The following testimony is an amazing story of our newest grandson, Caleb and the trials that his daddy and mommy experienced at his birth. The testimony is written by Caleb's daddy. James 1:16-17 Says: “Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Before our Son Caleb was born, I had a different understanding of these verses. Now, you might think that Caleb is the "good gift" that I'm thinking of when I quote these verses and indeed he is a very good gift for which I am thankful. When he was born as many of you know, he had problems, his lungs were not quite ready to breath air. As a result, he had to spend two weeks in the Infant ICU at Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte. My immediate thought when I realized what was happening was why me? These things happen to other people, but not to me. I also kept thinking to mysel...

Miracle–Another True Story

This is Miracle Miracle has a name that fits.  Let me tell you why.  First of all, Miracle’s mama died when he was two days old.  He had to be nursed along and as you can see he survived! That definitely was a miracle!   But Miracle’s name also fits for another reason.  That reason has to do with the following true story.  R_____, a friend of mine was having a rough year.  She was going through some trying times and some “down” times.  Several things were taking place in the lives of her family members. R_____ has a daughter and son-in-law who have five children and they are currently on deputation to raise support to go to the mission field.  This has always been the heart’s desire of her daughter and now the Lord was giving her that desire.  But right in the middle of this, her daughter was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  Another daughter was pregnant with their fourth child.  The doctors kept telling them there...

Surprises from God–Another True Story

I love how God surprises us sometimes in our prayers.  I love how His ways are not our ways. Isaiah 55:8-9  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.   I love how God delights in answering His children's prayers.  Here is a wonderful true story of how God took care of one of His children in unexpected ways. There was a family who was about to lose their home due to hard economic times.  They put their house on the market and   it was not long before someone had a contract on the house and they were given a closing date.  The date grew closer and the seller had no where to go.  They asked the Lord for wisdom and guidance and to give them a place to live.  It was specifically prayed that God would give them a place before the closing date.  It looked impossible – closin...

The Goodness of God Leadeth thee to Repentance - A True Story

Below is a true story of a man that was changed by the grace of God. I am glad to share this story as I have seen first hand that his life has been changed! (2Cor. 5:17) "...not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?" - Rom. 2:4 Today I must declare the goodness of God by sharing a story with you and perhaps challenge even my own heart and maybe the heart of another in how good God is. In October of 2009 there was a 26 year old man named Travis Berryhill living the life of a homeless drunk on the streets of Shelby. He had ruined every friend and family relationship that he had and although there were multiple places he used to live and jobs he used to have, these were all destroyed by drink (a topic for another day but if you play with this sin remember what GOD has said: "At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like and adder") and there was no place for him to sleep but at the homeless shelter, under a railroad bridge, in hi...
