5th and 6th Grade Sunday School Christmas Party

Last Friday my husband's Sunday School Class came for a Christmas Party.  We had fun making snowman candles,  playing games,  eating pizza and treats,  playing a gift exchange game, and having a devotion from God's Word. Our devotions included the following points: Christmas is a time to give, but also  a time to think about "the gift" (Jesus) the best gift - the most valuable the most needed gift - 1 John 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. the most enduring John 10:28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Jesus gave to the undeserving   - ungodly Romans 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Jesus gave to His enemies Colossians 1:21  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reco...

I Love Grandma a Whole Bunch

Teaching music to a couple of my grand children is fun, a privilege, and sometimes a challenge.  The other day, my grandson, Kade,  came to his lesson and brought me a whole bunch of notes.  They all said the same thing - "Thank You for being my teacher."   His mom said,  why don't you just give her one note and save another for later.  His reply - But I love Grandma a Whole Bunch!  How precious!  Grand children sure now how to win your heart!

Having a Great Granny is GREAT!

My mother-in-law has been with us for a couple of days.  Not only is she a blessing as a mother-in-law, but she has been a great blessing to my children as their granny and now to my grand children as their great granny.  How many children really get to interact with their great grandmother?  Including grand children and great grand children she has over 80.  We lose count after a while. Recently she was in an accident and we thought she would be in a wheelchair for a year, but our God does miracles!  It is a miracle to see her walking and getting around on her own. It was a joy seeing her hold her newest great grand son and our newest grand son, Caleb.  That in itself is a miracle as we wondered for a while if Caleb would be with us.  He was born with underdeveloped lungs and was in the NICU for a while.  God answered many prayers and allowed him to come home earlier than expected. Here is a picture of Caleb. I don’t have a picture of Granny ...

Burdens–A gift from God?

Can burdens be a gift from God?  Maybe so.  They teach us to obey by casting those burdens on the Lord.  He is the one who sustains and keeps us stedfast and solid on the Rock of all ages. Psalms 55:22  Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. When we are burdened through trials we have a haven of rest.  We can come to the Lord, be attached to His yoke, learning more of Him. Because his yoke is easy, (“That rest which the soul experiences when once safe under Christ's wing makes all yokes easy, all burdens light.” Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary ) this truly gives rest to our souls. Matthew 11:28-30  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. As we are burdened through different trials we fin...

Trials, Tribulations, and Trust!

This has been a week!  We never know what one day might bring.  Our 13th grandbaby was born on Tuesday! Caleb Lay came into the world weighing 6.9 pounds and 20” long.  Everything checked out fine except  that he was having breathing problems.  He  had to be air lifted to a children's hospital in Charlotte.  He looked so pitiful hooked up to all those machines, but we are sure thankful for the doctors and the technology these days that can save so many little lives.  He seemed to be doing better in just a short while and then one of his little lungs began collapsing and they had to do some risky procedures on him.  Praise the Lord for opportunities during this time.  My son was able to tell the doctor that this little guy had been given to the Lord and it was the Lord who decided between life and death.  They told the doctors to do what they thought was best and they would ask the Lord to guide his decisions and his hands.  Go...

Our Family Christmas

Such a blessing to be with our children and grand children over the Christmas Holidays.  The Lord is so good to us and has blessed us so much!  We even had a white Christmas in NC this year.                 We missed Jeremy and Esther, but I was able to snatch a few of their pictures of their Christmas in Brazil.  You can read about it HERE. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
