And Their Eyes Were Opened

Luke 24:31  And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. Thoughts: How long does it take for my eyes to be opened to the truths of God’s Word? How well do I know the Lord?  These disciples thought they knew the Lord, but it was a while before they realized who He was.  Does He walk and talk with me and while doing so am I totally blind to who He is and what He wants me to do? As soon as I close my Bible, does He vanish from me?  Has he vanished from my thoughts, my meditations, my obedience to Him?  I’m afraid and so ashamed to say that all too often this is true. Open my eyes, that I may see Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key That shall unclasp and set me free. Open my ears, that I may hear Voices of truth Thou sendest clear; And while the wave notes fall on my ear, Everything false will disappear. Open my mouth, and let me bear, Gladly the warm truth everywhere; Open my heart a...

Tuesday’s Treasure – The Joy of the Lord

The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength! Nehemiah 8:10  Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. In such a state every duty is practicable, and every duty delightful. In such a frame of mind no man can ever fell, and in such a state of mind the general health of the body is much improved; a cheerful heart is not only a continual feast, but also a continual medicine.  ~ Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible

Tuesday’s Treasure

Isn’t it wonderful to be able to find treasure from God’s word no matter what day or time you look into it?  God’s Word is full of treasures that are past finding out! 1 Chronicles 11:3  Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel. David was anointed King according to the Word of the LORD by Samuel – God’s will is done according to His Word. God’s Word was given by Samuel -   This reminds me of Romans 10:14  . . .  how shall they hear without a preacher?  How important to be ready to speak the Word of God.  It may bring a sinner to repentance or encourage a believer. David waxed greater and greater for the Lord of hosts was with him 2 Chronicles 11:9 Joshua 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day ...

Tuesday’s Treasure – Mercy Immeasurable

Psalms 103:11  For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. God’s mercy is immeasurable.  It is infinite. It cannot be measured.  Praise the Lord He does not decide on a certain amount to give me, but gives and gives beyond measure!  Now that is a priceless treasure!

Tuesday’s Treasure – What “WILL” you do?

Psalms 101:1-8  <<A Psalm of David.>> I will sing of mercy and judgment: unto thee, O LORD, will I sing. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.  A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer. Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.  He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.  I will early destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD. Some “I wills” that David purposed to do: I will sing of mer...

Tuesday’s Treasure Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Object Lesson:  Rotten Potatoes Recently I had to clean out a bin of potatoes because some had started to rot in the middle.  I knew I kept smelling something, but could not figure out where the smell was coming from.  Oh, the mess and stink while cleaning it out!  I dumped, washed, dried, sorted.  So glad i found them before they got worse. Have I looked for rotten potatoes in my life?  Is there something stinking but I am not sure what it is?  Am I willing to do a good soul searching and heart cleaning in order to separate the good from the bad?  I need to get the rotten potatoes out of my life before the spoil the good ones!  Oh well, it is only one or two rotten potatoes.  what can it hurt?   Amazing how much one or two rotten potatoes stink!  At first you don’t notice it and then all of a sudden, they smell so bad and all the good potatoes around the rotten potatoes start to spoil.  It all happens so quickly!...
