On Faith and Prayer

On Faith:
"Faith is worth nothing until it disregards the failure around us and rejoice in the faithfulness above us."  (Vance Havner - Day by Day - A Book of Devotions p. 150)

On Prayer:
"Prayer should be our first reaction, but too often it is our last resort." (Ed Nelson)
"Prayer is much discussed, definitely needed, but seldom practiced." (Lamoyne Sharpe)

"We  must plead on the basis of His grace and mercy - not on our merit"
Psalms 86:3  Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.
"What a blesses assurance!  God will answer prayer.  May we believe Him for it."
Psalms 86:6-7  Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
"A very essential part of our lives in seeking answers to prayer is that we believe His truth and be willing to have Him lead us according to His will." (Ed Nelson)
Psalms 86:11  Teach me thy way, O LORD;
I will walk in thy truth:
unite my heart to fear thy name.
"When the storm clouds rise and disaster comes, we are so prone to turn from the Lord and accuse Him of being unfair or even cruel.  But note what Jesus would have prayed: (Ed Nelson)
Psalms 86:15  But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion,
and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.

Some Things do not have an End

I love my family.  There are the only thing on earth you can take with you to eternity.  How important to share the gospel with all of them!  It is exciting to see my grand children, one by one come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.  I look forward to the day when each one of them has been saved through the blood of Jesus Christ and I look forward to that great reunion in heaven.  You can be 100% sure!

9 Characteristics of a Christian’s Music

I love to listen and sit under the influence of Dr. Don Scovill, music chairman of Ambassador Baptist College and music director at our church, Maranatha Baptist Church of Shelby, NC. He has been teaching in Sunday School on music.  Last Sunday he gave us 9 characteristics of a Christian’s Music.  Truly, the music of a Christian ought to be different from that of the world. My music must show my changed life or regenerated experience.  If there is no change, then we have a defective salvation or perhaps, no salvation.  2Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. My music should show ownership. We are not our own.  We belong to Christ.  Be careful what you put into your body, mind, and soul.  Does it reflect the ownership of Christ? 1 Corinthians 6:19-20  What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which y...
