Love the Cross, Count it Dear

Just a few lines below taken from today’s Morning and Evening by Spurgeon.  “It is the opinion of some that Simon only carried one end of the cross, and not the whole of it. That is very possible; Christ may have carried the heavier part, against the transverse beam, and Simon may have borne the lighter end. Certainly it is so with you; you do but carry the light end of the cross, Christ bore the heavier end. The cross we carry is only for a little while at most, and then we shall receive the crown, the glory. Surely we should love the cross, and, instead of shrinking from it, count it very dear , when it works out for us "a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory." 2 Corinthians 4:17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Preachers of the Past

Wouldn’t it be great to have know great preachers of the past?  Well, here is a way you can get to know them a little bit.  Last week we heard Mr. Doug Whitley preach a sermon doing a character presentation of Charles Spurgeon.  You can watch the presentation on you tube as well as many of his other character presentations.  You also might want to look at his website   where you can learn more about him and what he does.   You won’t be disappointed. Below is the first part of C.H. Spurgeon sermon on Love for the Prodigal Son.  You can go to You Tube and watch the other parts on Mr.Whitley's channel .

34 Reason Why I Married the Right Man

This past Saturday was our 34th wedding anniversary!  I can hardly believe that it has been 34 years.  God has been so good to us and blessed us in so many ways.  I am thankful for the years that the Lord has given us together and I want to share 34 reasons why I know I married the right man.  I was willing to wait for the right person.   This took a little doing because I nearly married the wrong person a few years earlier.  God protected me.  I am so glad I waited!   He loves the Lord wholeheartedly.  He did then and does now. We hit it off right away. We spent our time serving the Lord while dating.  It wasn’t just about us. My husband was and still is a family oriented man. My husband loves me for who I am and has since day one. I love him for who he is and did since day one. We have come through good and bad together and have worked through trials together while trusting the Lord. He is my best friend. He is th...

Having a Great Granny is GREAT!

My mother-in-law has been with us for a couple of days.  Not only is she a blessing as a mother-in-law, but she has been a great blessing to my children as their granny and now to my grand children as their great granny.  How many children really get to interact with their great grandmother?  Including grand children and great grand children she has over 80.  We lose count after a while. Recently she was in an accident and we thought she would be in a wheelchair for a year, but our God does miracles!  It is a miracle to see her walking and getting around on her own. It was a joy seeing her hold her newest great grand son and our newest grand son, Caleb.  That in itself is a miracle as we wondered for a while if Caleb would be with us.  He was born with underdeveloped lungs and was in the NICU for a while.  God answered many prayers and allowed him to come home earlier than expected. Here is a picture of Caleb. I don’t have a picture of Granny ...
