Guess it has been a while since I posted any family updates. The Last one was in June. Busy, Busy, Busy, but life goes on and we are one day closer to being with the Lord! Mel was off for a couple days in July and we were able to go to the Blue Ridge and enjoy riding and hiking and meditating on the goodness of God and His creation.
Psalms 90:1-2 <<A Prayer of Moses the man of God.>> Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
This month was Jeremy and Esther’s 7th anniversary. Since 7 is the number of perfection, I told them this will be the perfect year. They have been facing many trials in Brazil and we never realize what missionaries might go through until it hits so close to home. You can keep up with their life in Brazil right here.
VBS at Maranatha we went well and God blessed with putting the decorations together and most of all in the classes and lessons. We had a space theme, with Faith Is Just Believing as a theme song:
We were able to rent Jeremy’s trailer this month. That is a blessing and will help Jeremy out too. If you know anyone who want to buy a trailer, we can give you a good deal. There were still a few of their things to clean out of cupboards. I had a hard time all over again, just wanted to cry for missing them so much. So thankful we can talk and we have been able to use Skype a couple of times too and see the kids. :-) Little Judah turned one this month. Wished we could have celebrated with him, but at least we can see it online. My how spoiled I am with technology!
Mel is back in full swing at Ambassador Baptist College. Not only does he stay busy there, but he runs his own side business, Mel’s Heating and Air. He ususally gets a lot of calls during the summer months.
Since this is my 50th year in the Lord I shared 50 reasons why I love the Lord although the list is never ending. You can read the list here. Fifty spiritual years are not even a speck compared to all eternity!
Mel and I took another jaunt in August and enjoyed hiking at Stone Mountain, North Carolina. See the pictures here. It is quite a hike and it was very hot that day, but we sure did enjoy it and I always enjoy God’s creation.
September was a full month. Our grandson, Kade turned 4 this month. And there is another addition to this family. LIttle Karrington Lee was born on the 23rd. The is Mel and Jenny’s 5th child and our 12th grandchild.
Our friend, Omar Shrock was ordained this month. That is a blessing. He and his wife Tracy will be working with Jeremy and Esther in Brazil. You can read more about them here. They hope to be leaving in January. Tracy just gave birth to Mahalia Rose, their second child. Omar does wonderful photography. You can view some of his work at OJ Photography. And you won’t be disappointed.
Mel and Jenny are helping with one of Maranatha’s church plant. The church, called Crossroads Baptist, started this month in Columbus, NC. Our assistant Pastor left to start the church and took several families with him to help get it on its’ feet. Mel and Jenny are one of those families. Although we miss them greatly at Maranatha we are glad for this opportunity of service for them. At least they have not moved far away. They have about a 45 minute drive every Sunday and Wednesday.
Kaylah turned one this month and JD came soon after on Oct. 8th. We celebrated both birthdays together. It was a fun night.
We enjoyed a family day with all the kids at Elliot Farms in Polkville, NC
Mel and I were privileged to spend a few days at Holden Beach, NC. Because of “connections” we were able to rent a beach house for $50 a night. The LORD blesses us many times over and abundantly above what we need. How much He loves us and cares for us. The weather was warm and gorgeous and Mel enjoyed getting in the water. I enjoyed just being on the beach, reading, walking, reflecting on God’s goodness and His mighty power in His creation.
Genesis 1:9-10 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
Psalms 93:4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
Proverbs 8:29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
Proverbs 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

MaryEllen and I will be hosting a product review party at my house next week. She runs a blog called The Deal Scoop where she posts good deals. As different companies send her products she reviews them and does a write up on her blog often giving away one of the products. Because she has MANY products to review right now, I am helping her by writing some of the reviews for her and then she is in turn helping me to get my blog up and running. It will have a grand opening some time in November, but if you would like to look at it now then take a look at Fabulous Finds For Families. Just be sure to return for the big Giveaway coming soon!
And the biggest highlight thus far – our daughter-in-law, Lauren, sent us a “smilebox” And boy did this make us smile and cry tears of joy. Can you guess what was in the box? Yes, number 13 is on the way to Stephen and Lauren, due in March 2011. If you would like to see the “Smilebox”, go HERE.
Until next time – keep looking to the Lord.

Faith is just believing
What God says He will Do
He will never leave us
His promises are true
If we but receive Him
His children we become
Faith is just believing
God’s Wondrous Work is Done!
There were decisions made for Christ and we were thankful. Hat night was one of our special nights and the kids had a contest to see who could make the best space hat.Mel is back in full swing at Ambassador Baptist College.
