5th and 6th Grade Sunday School Christmas Party

Last Friday my husband's Sunday School Class came for a Christmas Party.  We had fun making snowman candles,  playing games,  eating pizza and treats,  playing a gift exchange game, and having a devotion from God's Word.

Our devotions included the following points:
  1. Christmas is a time to give, but also
    • a time to think about "the gift" (Jesus)
      • the best gift - the most valuable
      • the most needed gift - 1 John 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
      • the most enduring John 10:28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
    • Jesus gave to the undeserving   - ungodly Romans 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
    • Jesus gave to His enemies Colossians 1:21  And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
    • We are unable to repay Him for this gift. (Rom 5:6)
  2. We ought to give as God gave
    • Not grudgingly - 2 Corinthians 9:7  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
    • not to be seen of men - Matthew 6:1  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
    • not to those we hope to receive back from
    • but to those in need
    • Just thinking or even talking about it does not meet the need, or imitate Christ - James 2:16  And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

50 Reasons Why I Love the Lord

I recently had a birthday, but more important is my spiritual birthday.  I am so thankful to be born again. This is my 50th year in the Lord!  To think that the Lord saved me and keeps me is beyond my comprehension!  I am so filled with awe and gratitude to my Lord!  Since this is my 50th year to be saved,  I wrote down 50 reasons why I love Him.  It was not a hard task.  There are so many reasons to love the Lord.  I cannot think of one reason why the Lord would want to love me, but I am so thankful that He does.  He only is our HOPE. I have been so overwhelmed with the Lord's love for me that I felt like I needed to share it with others.  If you don't know the Lord, please don't delay.  You will never regret His love for you. He first loved me. He sent His only begotten son to die in my place. He forgives all my sin He saved me by His shed blood He has never left nor forsaken me. He is ever merciful and His mercies are new every morning. He gives grace

Wednesday’s Wisdom

1 Kings 8:61  Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. How much do we give? Psalms 96:8-9 “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name:” (Give Praise and worship) “bring an offering, and come into his courts.” (Give personal wealth) “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” (Give practical witness) “ God wants our praise.  The world needs our practical witness of a holy life.  and we need to give our personal wealth.  God does not need our gifts-but we need to give.  The greatest gift we can give is to give our lives to His service. ~The above is from My Morning Manna, vol. 3, p. 226, by Ed Nelson
