Can burdens be a gift from God? Maybe so. They teach us to obey by casting those burdens on the Lord. He is the one who sustains and keeps us stedfast and solid on the Rock of all ages.
Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
When we are burdened through trials we have a haven of rest. We can come to the Lord, be attached to His yoke, learning more of Him. Because his yoke is easy, (“That rest which the soul experiences when once safe under Christ's wing makes all yokes easy, all burdens light.”Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Commentary) this truly gives rest to our souls.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
As we are burdened through different trials we find so many faithful family members and friends who are willing to share our burdens and lift us up in prayer or help in any way possible. Now what better life is there than that?
Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Yes, I believe that burdens can be a gift from God if we look at them in the right perspective.
How God has sustained us through recent trials and tribulations! How much He is teaching us as we are willing to be yoked to Him and learn from Him. And how thankful we are for all those who are bearing our burdens with us.
Below are updates on Caleb that I have copied from his Mommy’s updates on face book.
Here is a video of Caleb with the hiccups.
The updates below were in the last 24 hours!
- Our little man is officially off all sedation and doing good! They will be taking him off his vent tonight and will see how well he does breathing totally on his own. PLEASE PRAY that his lungs will be able to adjust without causing him any further agitation and that he will NOT have to go back on the machine. This particular machine goes down between his vocal chords so he cannot cry and it is taped up on his face, making him very irritated now that he is off the sedation. He has tried pulling it out several times today already:-) Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement! God keeps giving us opportunities to witness and we had the privilege of presenting the Gospel to two people today (one was one of our nurses) who have never heard the Gospel message! Pray that they will come to know the LORD as their Savior!! We love you all and thank the LORD daily for prayer warriors who are continuously lifting us up!!!

Little Caleb is off his vent and breathing well on his own! The next 24 hours will tell whether or not his lungs can handle it without tiring and we are praying that they will be strong and that he will stay off the the other machines! Praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works!
Has the Lord helped sustain you through any recent trials? It is such a blessing to hear how others respond to trials and what the Lord has done for them. Please feel free to leave your comment.
