Tuesday’s Treasure Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Object Lesson:  Rotten Potatoes

Recently I had to clean out a bin of potatoes because some had started to rot in the middle.  I knew I kept smelling something, but could not figure out where the smell was coming from.  Oh, the mess and stink while cleaning it out!  I dumped, washed, dried, sorted.  So glad i found them before they got worse.

Have I looked for rotten potatoes in my life?  Is there something stinking but I am not sure what it is?  Am I willing to do a good soul searching and heart cleaning in order to separate the good from the bad?  I need to get the rotten potatoes out of my life before the spoil the good ones!  Oh well, it is only one or two rotten potatoes.  what can it hurt?   Amazing how much one or two rotten potatoes stink!  At first you don’t notice it and then all of a sudden, they smell so bad and all the good potatoes around the rotten potatoes start to spoil.  It all happens so quickly!  Before long there are maggots crawling everywhere!  Then as my life gets “stinkier and stinkier”  it even causes others around me to become stinky and rotten.

Not only do I need to get the rotten potatoes out of my life, but I need to separate from others who have rotten potatoes in their lives lest they begin to destroy me.  Am I willing to say with the Psalmist,  Psalms 139:23-24  Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Remember:  GOD IS HOLY! and therefore

1 Peter 1:16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

2 Peter 3:11  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

50 Reasons Why I Love the Lord

I recently had a birthday, but more important is my spiritual birthday.  I am so thankful to be born again. This is my 50th year in the Lord!  To think that the Lord saved me and keeps me is beyond my comprehension!  I am so filled with awe and gratitude to my Lord!  Since this is my 50th year to be saved,  I wrote down 50 reasons why I love Him.  It was not a hard task.  There are so many reasons to love the Lord.  I cannot think of one reason why the Lord would want to love me, but I am so thankful that He does.  He only is our HOPE. I have been so overwhelmed with the Lord's love for me that I felt like I needed to share it with others.  If you don't know the Lord, please don't delay.  You will never regret His love for you. He first loved me. He sent His only begotten son to die in my place. He forgives all my sin He saved me by His shed blood He has never left nor forsaken me. He is ever merciful and His mercies are new every morning. He gives grace

Wednesday’s Wisdom

1 Kings 8:61  Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. How much do we give? Psalms 96:8-9 “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name:” (Give Praise and worship) “bring an offering, and come into his courts.” (Give personal wealth) “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” (Give practical witness) “ God wants our praise.  The world needs our practical witness of a holy life.  and we need to give our personal wealth.  God does not need our gifts-but we need to give.  The greatest gift we can give is to give our lives to His service. ~The above is from My Morning Manna, vol. 3, p. 226, by Ed Nelson
