Friday's Freshness

God's Word is always fresh and meets the needs that we have.  Reflecting on Psalm 23:

  • Ps 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd - He is mine, not just a shepherd, by my shepherd.  Sheep need a shepherd.  I was a lost sheep and Jesus found me.  I am now one of His sheep.  I Shall not Want - As one of His sheep, I have no need of want for He meets all of my needs and many of my wants.
  • Psalms 23:2-3  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.   He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.  He refreshes me, restores me and leads me in paths of righteousness.
  • Psalms 23:4  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  When I pass through death's shadows, He is there comforting, keeping me from the evil one.  The evil on has no claim on my soul for I am a child of the King and shall dwell in His palace someday

Words: Harriet E. Buell, 1877.
Music: John B. Sumner, 1877

My Father is rich in houses and lands,
He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands!
Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold,
His coffers are full, He has riches untold.
Refrain
I’m a child of the King,
A child of the King:
With Jesus my Savior,
I’m a child of the King.
My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men,
Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them;
But now He is pleading our pardon on high,
That we may be His when He comes by and by.
Refrain
I once was an outcast stranger on earth,
A sinner by choice, an alien by birth,
But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down,
An heir to a mansion, a robe and a crown.
Refrain
A tent or a cottage, why should I care?
They’re building a palace for me over there;
Though exiled from home, yet still may I sing:
All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.
Refrain
  • Psalms 23:5  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Oh how my cup runs over even when I don't realize it!  In the presence of all surrounding enemies, enemies of self, of the devil, of this world), I can feast at His table just by going to the Word of God daily and meditating upon it.
  • Goodness and mercy follow me everywhere for all of my life.  What would I do without the mercy of God?
  • I will dewll in God's house forever!  What an overwhelming thought and truth!

Wednesday’s Wisdom

1 Kings 8:61  Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. How much do we give? Psalms 96:8-9 “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name:” (Give Praise and worship) “bring an offering, and come into his courts.” (Give personal wealth) “O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” (Give practical witness) “ God wants our praise.  The world needs our practical witness of a holy life.  and we need to give our personal wealth.  God does not need our gifts-but we need to give.  The greatest gift we can give is to give our lives to His service. ~The above is from My Morning Manna, vol. 3, p. 226, by Ed Nelson

50 Reasons Why I Love the Lord

I recently had a birthday, but more important is my spiritual birthday.  I am so thankful to be born again. This is my 50th year in the Lord!  To think that the Lord saved me and keeps me is beyond my comprehension!  I am so filled with awe and gratitude to my Lord!  Since this is my 50th year to be saved,  I wrote down 50 reasons why I love Him.  It was not a hard task.  There are so many reasons to love the Lord.  I cannot think of one reason why the Lord would want to love me, but I am so thankful that He does.  He only is our HOPE. I have been so overwhelmed with the Lord's love for me that I felt like I needed to share it with others.  If you don't know the Lord, please don't delay.  You will never regret His love for you. He first loved me. He sent His only begotten son to die in my place. He forgives all my sin He saved me by His shed blood He has never left nor forsaken me. He is ever merciful and His merc...
