Family of Travel

The article written by Alonso Kramer My family is really big on traveling especially this time of year when we can drive up to the northeast and look at all the beautiful leaves. We’ve actually got a house in Maine so we try to go up at least twice a year for a couple of weeks at a time and I just love how outdoorsy it’s made my kids after all this time. My husband and I agreed to get Total Alarm Systems for the house here in Pennsylvania since we’re gone so much and it makes me feel better to leave it with some kind of protection. We just love being on vacation together as a family and if you ask me the whole point of vacation is to get everything off your mind so you’re not worried about stuff like the house! The kids would agree, I think, and they’re getting really excited for this year’s trip which is happening sooner rather than later. Maine , here we come once again with bells on! We’re that type of family…

Run, Run, Run!

Beating the Train As my friend and I were taking a walk one day, we heard a train whistle in the distance and knew we only had a minute or two to beat the train and get across the tracks in order to not allow our walk to be interrupted.  So we ran.   Whew!   I’m not used to that, but we did beat the train!  I was thinking that sometimes there are trains in life that come along and we ought not to let them over take us.  We often need to run in order to avoid certain dangers and obstacles that may hinder our Christian life. Joseph ran and got away from Potiphar’s wife instead of letting sin ruin his life.- Genesis 39:12  And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. We should run to the Lord to hide us and deliver us from our enemies. - Psalms 143:9  Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.   Run from things that will hinder your Christia...

Have you Every Heard of a Skype Shower?

Recently, we had our first ladies meeting of the year at our Church .  Another lady and myself are in charge of planning these meetings and this year my helper came up with the idea of doing a Skype baby shower for one of our missionaries.  Mrs. Joanna Jennings is expecting her first baby and since she and her husband are missionaries out of ou r church , we thought it would be nice to include her in a baby shower.  It is the usual habit to give a baby shower for the first child that a mother is expecting after joining our church .  I have to admit I was a little nervous about it at first wondering if we could get all the technical things worked out, but the Lord is so good and we had a very successful shower.  We basically had a regular shower while Joanna and her husband, Brenson were online with us over Skype.  I will put the details HERE , if you would like to see the order of events.  Mrs. Michelle Beal, wife of the president, Doctor Alton Beal of...

Teachers–What kind of teacher are you?

We all teach someone every day.   Most important, our teaching should be biblically based:  Biblical teaching needs to be done with prayer.  Prayer is vital. 1 Thessalonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing. Biblical Teaching needs to be done with much studying.  2 Timothy 2:15  Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth . Biblical Teaching needs to be done with application.  Apply what you teach to your own life.         James 1:22-24  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. Thought:  “You cannot communicate out of a vacuum; you cannot impart what you do not possess.”
